Merriams Turkey Hunt
Arguably the most handsome of the turkey subspecies, the Merriam's is a bird of the West. These white tipped beauties inhabit differing terrain from prairies to the Rocky Mountains. Tim has hunted Merriam's numerous times and has set up many successful trips for others in pursuit of this majestic bird. Tim is currently representing Merriam's camps in Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Though they may not be as wary as their eastern cousins, a Merriam's hunt can be quite challenging due to the topography of their home terrain and its openness. These birds usually gobble a good bit more than easterns and often rival Rio's when it comes to their vocal habits.

Merriam's Hunting Options:

Option #1 Northeast Wyoming/Southeast Montana
This in an incredible Merriam's hunt with incredible success rates. In sixyears, only two hunter has not killed a gobbler, but they did have an opportunity at mature birds. The hunt is based out of a nice lodge in Sheridan, Wyoming only 15 minutes from the airport. Airport pickup is included in the hunt. Once at the lodge, you have two options. There is a 3 day - 1 bird hunt in Wyoming. 2x1 guide, lodging and food provided. The second option is a 4 day - 2 bird hunt in WY and MT. All the food, lodging and guide are again included, but when you tag your WY gobbler, you jump the border and hunt a second bird in Montana. There is more than 25,000 acres to hunt, and this outfitter has provided quality hunts for Mossy Oak's Hunting the Country TV show, Remington, Swarovski, LL Bean, The Hunter's Journal, etc. What an experience! This hunt is very limited to the number of hunters booked each year, so the slots fill up fast. Tim personally led writer/TV media hunt here in 2005 and 2006 with top writers from Turkey Call magazine, Turkey & Turkey hunting magazine and the TV crews from The Hunter's Journal, and Mossy Oak's Hunting the Country on The Outdoor Channel. All tags were again filled in 2005 and 2007, and the only person not to fill a tag in 2006 did miss!!! This is the place that Tim has found the highest percentage of White tipped Merriam's in the country. If you are looking for a really WHITE tailed bird to mount, this is the place. Cost of the 3 day - 1 bird hunt is $1200, and 4 day - 2 bird - 2 state hunt is $1750.

Option #2: Northeast/North Central Nebraska Merriam's Hunt - Guaranteed Success!
Tim is proud to offer this fantastic Nebraska Merriam's hunt that takes place on 40,000+ acres of private land comprised of rolling hills, creek and river bottoms. These hunts have near 100% success for the past 5 years - way more than 100% opportunity, and in 2005 every tag that came through camp was again filled - that was 98 for 98. In 2006 we had 145 turkey tags in camp, and killed 135 birds with a whopping 40 misses! One man missed 5 birds and one young lady missed 7 times with a bow. Year in and year out, this is always one of the top two hunts we offer for any subspecies. Tim has worked with this outfitter for years and cannot recommend any turkey camp higher. The hunt includes all food, lodging in brand new houses, and 2x1 guide services. There is a 3 day/1 bird ($1195) option, a 3 day/2 bird option ($1695) and a 3 day/3 bird option ($2195).
